Joel Gastélum has a diverse work experience in the fields of marketing, photography, and video production. Joel began their career as a freelance photographer and video producer in 2009, working on various projects for local, national, and international brands. Some of their notable clients include the Government of the State of Sonora, Secretaría de Innovación de Jalisco, and Tec de Monterrey. In 2011, they worked as a photographer and photo editor for Groupalia, where they were responsible for the image and design of the website's daily campaigns. Joel also served as an assistant creative and production assistant at Zynderia Productions, where they worked on music videos, commercials, and films. Joel has also worked as a video producer and photographer for Bruscoo Ventures, organizing and documenting events for the company's brands. Joel has experience teaching digital photography at the Centro Universitario de Sonora and has worked as a photographer and photo editor for Editorial Matro SA de CV. Joel also briefly worked as a 2nd Assistant Director at Grandave International. Joel Gastélum has a diverse education history in the fields of music, design, cinematography, film/video production, scriptwriting, communication, journalism, and color management. In 2002, they obtained a Bachelor's degree in Communication and Media Studies from the Universidad de Sonora. In 2010, they participated in various workshops, including "Young people as agents of change" in Design and Applied Arts offered by SEP-CONACULTA. Joel also attended workshops on Direction in Documentary films at the Ambulante Documentary Film Festival and Storytelling and Scriptwriting at ISC (Sonora Institute of Culture). During the same year, Joel also participated in workshops on cultural journalism at ISC (Sonora Institute of Culture) and workshops on landscape as a social commentary and video/experimental process at Museo de Arte de Sonora. In 2013, they attended a workshop on color workflow at Editorial Matro.
To enhance their skills, Joel has obtained additional certifications in various areas. In April 2020, they completed certifications in Audio Techniques for Film, Video, and Multimedia, Building Resilience as a Leader, Motion 5.3 Essential Training, Photoshop Retouching: Skin, Storytelling for Business Video, and Video Writing: Using Humor to Communicate and Persuade from LinkedIn.
Currently, in 2022, Joel is pursuing a Diplomado en Film Scoring at CEMUCVER, specializing in Music Theory and Composition.
