James Almond has a diverse work experience with various roles in different companies. James started their career as an IT Intern at HSBC in 2007, where they worked on an internal data centre management system. James then worked as a Software Developer at epiGenesys, where they developed online scrapbooking startup projects. James also worked at Tribal24 Ltd as a Lead Developer, focusing on hospitality and travel-based websites. During their time there, they introduced agile development methodologies and implemented a robust testing framework.

James later joined White Space Communications Limited as a Senior Developer and then moved on to Abstractive Limited, where they served as a Director and worked on the Energy Sparks project. Their responsibilities included delivering user research-driven improvements to the energy analysis tool and energy education program.

James also worked at Koru Kids as a Senior Software Engineer II, leading a full-stack team in building payroll and financial services for nannies, childminders, and families. James mentored junior developers and worked closely with designers, product managers, and users to solve operational problems.

Currently, James is working at Dentally as an Engineering Team Lead. Their role involves building a high-performing full-stack product engineering team. James collaborates with business and customer stakeholders as part of a product trio to understand requirements and deliver value. James is also involved in various initiatives such as rolling out a product analytics pipeline, mentoring engineers, and driving quality through improved testing practices. Additionally, they have contributed to the formation of product guilds and is part of the hiring team.

James Almond attended The University of Sheffield from 2005 to 2008, where they earned a 1st in Computer Science BSc.
