Brian Anderson

Brian Anderson is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in energy research and policy. Currently serving as a Senior Advisor at the U.S. Department of Energy since June 2023, Brian also holds the position of Executive Director at EnergyCommunities since April 2021. Previously, Brian was the Director of the National Energy Technology Laboratory from November 2018 to June 2023 and the Director of the WVU Energy Institute, which was founded in 2014, from January 2006 to November 2018. Brian's academic background includes a PhD and MS in Chemical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where Brian also worked as a Professor and Verl O. Purdy Chair of Engineering for a brief period in 2005. Earlier experiences include consultancy roles and internships with various organizations, complementing a robust educational foundation in Chemical Engineering earned at West Virginia University.
