Hal Finkel is an accomplished professional in computational science with extensive experience in both government and academia. Currently serving as the Director of the Computational Science Research and Partnerships Division at the U.S. Department of Energy since October 2020, Hal has also held the position of Acting Director and previously worked as a Program Manager in Computer Science for the Advanced Scientific Computing Research program. Prior to joining the DOE, Hal was a lecturer in the University of Chicago's Masters Program in Computer Science and held various roles at Argonne National Laboratory, including Lead in Compiler Technology and Programming Languages. Hal's academic background includes a Ph.D. in Physics from Yale University and a BS in Physics from Drexel University.
