Brian McInerney

Brian McInerney currently serves as the Director of the Consular Training Division at the U.S. Department of State, where responsibilities include training new and mid-level officers, State Department leadership, and local staff on consular issues. McInerney has held various significant roles within the Bureau of Consular Affairs, including Director of the Visa Office - Field Operations, Consul General, and Country Consular Coordinator. Additional experience includes serving as Deputy Director of Orientation and training new Foreign Service Generalists. In parallel to roles at the State Department, McInerney acts as an Election Officer for Fairfax County Government, contributing to the electoral process in Virginia. Academic credentials include a JD from DePaul University College of Law and a Bachelor’s degree in International Affairs from Xavier University, complemented by studies at the University of Limerick.
