Kate Kelly is an experienced policy professional currently serving as the Deputy Chief of Staff for Policy at the U.S. Department of the Interior since January 2021. Prior to this role, Kate worked as the Director of Public Lands at the Center for American Progress from March 2017 to January 2021. Kate's extensive background in the U.S. Department of the Interior includes positions as Senior Advisor, Director of Communications, and Deputy Communications Director from July 2010 to January 2017. Before that, Kate was the Press Secretary and Deputy Press Secretary for the United States Senate from September 2006 to July 2010. Kate holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science and Writing from Washington University in St. Louis, obtained between 2000 and 2004.
