Matthew Balensuela

Matthew Balensuela is an experienced music educator and scholar with a distinguished career in higher education. Currently serving as an Adjunct Faculty member at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College since 2017, Balensuela also holds the position of Professor of Music at DePauw University, a role initiated in August 1991. Balensuela has contributed significantly to music pedagogy as Editor in Chief for the Journal of Music History Pedagogy from September 2010 to 2014 and has served as a Visiting Professor at Indiana University between 2007 and 2013. Balensuela's academic credentials include a PhD in Musicology from Indiana University Bloomington (1985-1992), a Master of Music from Bowling Green State University (1981-1985), and a Bachelor of Music in Saxophone from The Juilliard School.
