Lauren Tobin

Attorney Lauren Tobin dreamt of becoming a civil rights attorney since she was a little girl. Some of her earliest memories were visiting her grandmother at work at the County Courthouse where she was a clerk. Ms. Tobin remembers her grandmother playing mock court with her and her sister. The cases were all related to civil rights.

Not only did she learn about civil rights, but she also learned about the legal practice and fell in love. She also learned about the dynamic between employment and happiness. Employment, she learned, played a central role in a person’s life. Yet, as important as employment is for a person, they often do not know their rights or how to access them.

Ms. Tobin knew she only wanted to practice employment law. She wanted to help people stand up for their rights when they need it most. During Law School, Ms. Tobin focused on civil rights and labor and employment law classes and assignments.

Ms. Tobin interned with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) while in Law School. There, she learned how the EEOC reviews and determines charges filed against employers. She read the manual which outlines the EEOC decision process. As a result, she understands how to present a case to the EEOC to receive the most positive outcome possible for her clients.

Ms. Tobin went on to intern with the Department of Labor in Colorado. While with the Department of Labor, Ms. Tobin learned the process involved with Fair Labor Standards Act cases, OSHA cases, and other labor law issues that affect employees daily. This experience makes her the perfect advocate for employees and union employees facing labor issues within their workplace.
