Sr. Director Software Engineering at DermTech

Matthew Dedek has a diverse work experience in various roles and companies. Matthew is currently working as a Sr. Director Software Engineering at DermTech since December 2020. Before that, they served as CTO and Co-Founder at Synergy Wound Technology, focusing on the development of wound care technology. Matthew also worked as a Principal Consultant and Founder at The Networked Lab, LLC from July 2018 to December 2020, providing consulting services.

Matthew has held positions at Genoptix, Inc. from 2016 to 2018, where they served as a Bioinformatics Analytical Manager and a Senior Bioinformatics Analyst. At Genoptix, they worked on developing custom NGS LIMS application and migration of NGS pipelines to Amazon Web Services.

Prior to that, Matthew worked at Millennium Health as a Senior Scientist Integrated Genetics from November 2014 to July 2016. Matthew also gained experience at Pathway Genomics Corporation, where they held multiple positions, including Senior Manager of Integrated Automations, Principal Research Associate and Automation Engineer, and Research and Automation Associate. At Pathway Genomics, they managed automation and LIMS integration efforts, developed laboratory automation, and initiated a laboratory automation program.

Matthew began their career as a Research Specialist at Human Origins Genotyping Laboratory, Arizona Research Laboratories, University of Arizona, where they developed laboratory automations and managed the National Geographic STR ancestry test. Matthew also worked as a Graduate Research Assistant at the University of Arizona Department of Medical Pharmacology, where they conducted research on peptide ligands and performed radioligand binding assays.

Throughout their career, Matthew has gained expertise in software engineering, wound technology, bioinformatics, laboratory automation, and research in genetics and pharmacology.

Matthew Dedek earned their Bachelor of Science degree in Physics and Mathematical Sciences from Binghamton University in 2005. Matthew then pursued a Master's degree in Medical Pharmacology at the University of Arizona from 2005 to 2007. Additionally, they obtained several certifications from Amazon Web Services, including the AWS Certified SysOps Administrator - Associate (SOA) in June 2018, the AWS Certified Developer - Associate in September 2017, and the AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate in September 2017.
