Alec Newman

Alec Newman is an accomplished professional with extensive experience in engineering, project management, and leadership within the mining and engineering sectors. Currently serving as the Country Manager for Derrick Corporation in Australia, New Zealand, and Papua New Guinea since October 2025, Alec has previously held senior roles at FLSmidth from 2018 to 2025, including Director of Filtration Services and Director of Service Line for Separations & Dewatering Consumables. In these positions, Alec was responsible for driving sustainability initiatives, managing P&L, and leading R&D projects. Additionally, Alec played a key role in the growth of Rent to Own Africa from 2015 to 2018 as PAYG Project Manager and held engineering positions at First Quantum Minerals and Radpharm Scientific. Alec holds an MBA from AGSM @ UNSW Business School, a Micromasters in Supply Chain Management from MITx, and advanced degrees in Mining Engineering and Engineering from esteemed institutions.
