Kate Hegarty

Kate Hegarty is a highly experienced planning professional currently serving as a Higher Planning Officer at Derry City & Strabane District Council, a position held since April 2022. Prior to this role, Kate worked as a Planning Consultant at CLYDE SHANKS from April 2020 to April 2022 and as an Assistant Planner at bptw partnership from October 2017 to March 2020. Kate began a career in planning as a Research Assistant at Queen's University Belfast, contributing to an international project focused on renewable energy development in Ireland and Canada from September 2016 to July 2017. Educational qualifications include a Master of Science in Planning and Regeneration and a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Planning, both obtained from Queen's University Belfast, as well as partial MSc studies in Spatial Planning at Blekinge Institute of Technology.
