Chief Technology Officer (cto) at Descartes Labs

Scott Arko has a diverse work experience spanning over multiple industries. Scott is currently working as the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) at Descartes Labs since February 2023, where they also previously held the position of Geospatial Data Engineer from November 2018 to February 2023. Prior to that, they served at the University of Alaska Fairbanks, beginning in 2001. At the university, they held various roles including ASF Deputy Director from 2007 to October 2018, ASF Engineering Manager from 2004 to 2007, and ASF Lead Developer from 2001 to 2004. Before joining the university, Scott worked as a Research Scientist at Veridian ERIM International from 2000 to 2001 and as a GS-13 Research Scientist at Air Force Research Laboratory from 1997 to 2000. Scott'searliest work experience was as a Scientist at Nichols Research Corporation from 1995 to 1997.

Scott Arko completed their B.A. in Physics at Lawrence University from 1989 to 1993. Scott then pursued further studies at Colorado State University, obtaining an M.S. in Physics from 1993 to 1995.
