Michael Ting

Michael Ting is a seasoned engineering professional with extensive experience in software engineering and data science. Currently serving as Senior Engineering Manager for Platform Engineering at Descartes Underwriting since March 2023, Michael has driven software engineering governance and organized Scrum teams. Prior roles include Technical Lead at VINCI Construction France, where architectural design and process improvements were key responsibilities, and Senior Data Scientist at Yahoo, focusing on optimization and reinforcement learning within online auction processes. Additional experience includes positions at Irdeto, Criteo, and Seagate Technology, where expertise in backend development, statistical analysis, and research was demonstrated. Michael holds a PhD and MSE in Electrical Engineering from the University of Michigan, as well as a BASc in Computer Engineering from the University of Waterloo.
