Violaine Raybaud is the head of business development at Descartes Underwriting. Violaine has over 10 years of experience in the insurance industry, having worked in various positions in Europe and the Middle East.

Violaine started their career as a client manager at Swiss Re, before moving to AXA Insurance Gulf, where they served as regional P&C underwriting and development manager. In this role, they were responsible for a portfolio of over 75 million euros, and they worked to instill a commercial culture among underwriters and develop products that met the needs of clients.

After two years at AXA Insurance Gulf, Violaine returned to Europe to take on the role of chief of staff for AXA's European markets. In this role, they were responsible for assisting the company's top executives with strategic projects, and they also served as an executive assistant to the company's chief strategy and development officer.

After a year in this role, Violaine was promoted to head of business development at Descartes Underwriting, where they have been working for the past two years. In this role, they are responsible for developing new business opportunities and expanding the company's client base.

Violaine Raybaud has a degree in engineering from MINES ParisTech, where they specialized in geostatistics and risk management. Violaine also has a degree in actuarial science from the Institut de Statistique de l'Université de Paris. In 2008, they spent a semester studying economy, statistics and applied probability at the National University of Singapore as part of an exchange program.
