Andrew Medina-Marino currently serves as the Principal Investigator and Eastern Cape Site Lead at the Desmond Tutu HIV Foundation since June 2018, while also holding the position of Adjunct Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Pennsylvania since June 2020. Previously, Andrew led the Research Unit at the Foundation for Professional Development from November 2012 to May 2021, focusing on public health program advancement through scientific and epidemiologic methods. Experience includes work as an Epidemiologist with Médecins Sans Frontières during the Ebola outbreak in Liberia and as the Chief of the Laboratory Branch at the CDC in South Africa, where Andrew provided technical assistance to various health agencies. Andrew's educational background includes a Master of Public Health in Epidemiology from the University of Cape Town and a PhD in Molecular Biology from the California Institute of Technology.
