Board Member at Detroit Recovery Project

Charles Christian Adams earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Wayne State University. He went on to earn the Master of Divinity degree from Union Theological Seminary in New York City. While there, Rev. Adams served as the Youth and Young Adult Minister for the Bronx Christian Fellowship Church, Bronx, New York under the Pastorate of Dr. Suzan Johnson Cook. Both Dr. Cook and Rev. Adams comforted and counseled many in the Wall Street area in the immediate aftermath of ‘9ll’. In addition, he was Program Coordinator for the Office of the University Chaplain at Columbia University in New York.

Rev. Charles Christian Adams currently serves as the Presiding Pastor of Hartford Memorial Baptist Church, where he was ordained under the Pastorate of his father, Dr. Charles G. Adams. In addition to his preaching and teaching ministry at Hartford, Rev. Adams has traveled the world, ministering in Geneva, Switzerland for the World Council of Churches, Harare, Zimbabwe for the Baptist World Alliance Youth Conference and Johannesburg, South Africa for the American Baptist Churches. He has preached throughout the United States, Europe and Africa. Rev. Adams has also conducted several drug and alcohol abuse seminars at juvenile detention facilities, drug rehabilitation centers, elementary and high schools.

Among the his many ministries at Hartford are the Tuesday Night Men’s Bible Study and the “Saturday Nite Live” contemporary “come as your are” worship service, that attracts many who appreciate a more relaxed and intimate service.

Rev. Adams is a member of the Golden Key National Honor Society, a lifetime member of the NAACP and is on the Trustee Board of the Sunshine Community School in Detroit, Michigan. He has specialized in outreach ministries related to drug and alcohol addiction, sitting on the Board of Directors for the Detroit Recovery Project and counseling at Emmanuel House Recovery Center.

Rev. Charles Christian Adams is the father of Charles Edward, and Madison Elizabeth and is married to Mrs. Maria Lauren Adams.
