Shabnam Surita

Shabnam Surita is an accomplished journalist and editor at Deutsche Welle, where responsibilities include serving both the DW Bengali and DW Culture editorial teams. Shabnam has extensive experience in journalism, having completed an 18-month traineeship at Deutsche Welle and contributed to various departments, including Environment and Culture. As a doctoral student and research associate at the University of Bonn, expertise in South Asian Studies has been developed. Shabnam's linguistics skills are highlighted through a role as a Bengali and Sylheti translator for Médecins Sans Frontières, alongside freelance journalism for various organizations. Additional educational background includes a PhD in South Asian Studies from the University of Bonn, alongside multiple degrees in related fields from Aarhus University and Jadavpur University, among others.
