My PhD at Medizinische Hochschule Hannover, was one of the most exciting phases of my life, when I developed my love and passion for understanding the mysterious and fascinating world of cardiovascular science. I fell in love with those beating cardiomyocytes and have never got tired of watching them under the microscope. While studying the molecular mechanisms governing the process of myocardial remodeling, I gained the expertise in handling several mouse and cell culture models. Afterwards, I joined Prof. Peter Rehling’s group at Universitätsmedizin Göttingen as a postdoctoral research scientist to broaden my horizons. I continued my zest to unveil various metabolic regulations underlying cardiac abnormalities. During this time I was also successful in generating CRISPR-Cas mediated patient mutation mouse models of cardiac diseases.
Other than science, I enjoy experimenting in my second laboratory at home -my kitchen. Likewise, I think with the right set of weapons (my brushes, colors, imagination and music), I can conquer the world, but will still loose to my “mini me”: my lovely daughter.
