Leon Overweel

Leon Overweel is a machine learning engineer who specializes in binarized neural networks (BNNs). Leon has worked as a deep learning engineer at Plumerai, where they were responsible for designing and training BNNs for tasks such as image classification, monocular depth estimation, person detection, and object detection. Leon also helped maintain Plumerai's open-source BNN training library, Larq, and built internal tools to improve researcher efficiency. In their current role at Dexter Energy Services, they are continuing to work on developing efficient machine learning models.

Leon Overweel holds a MSc in Artificial Intelligence from The University of Edinburgh, a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science and Engineering from Delft University of Technology, and a Semester Abroad in Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence Minor from the National University of Singapore. Leon is a graduate of Rye High School.
