Miguel A. Gomez Gonzalez is a Beamline Scientist at Diamond Light Source since September 2019, following a role as a Postdoctoral Researcher at Imperial College London from June 2016 to August 2019, where Miguel focused on the multimodal characterization of engineered nanomaterials in the environment. Prior to this, Miguel pursued a Ph.D. at the National Museum of Natural Sciences, examining the role of natural colloids as environmental nanovectors for toxic elements in contaminated soils. Short-term research stays at institutions such as UNAM, Eawag, and UC Merced involved applications of chemical equilibrium modeling and molecular-scale analyses of arsenic speciation using synchrotron-based techniques. Miguel holds a Ph.D. in Chemistry/Geochemistry and a Licentiate degree in Chemistry, both from Universidad de Zaragoza. Key areas of expertise include colloids, X-Ray Absorption Spectroscopy (EXAFS and XANES), Asymmetric Flow Field-Flow Fractionation (AsFlFFF), ICP-mass spectrometry, and TEM/SEM.
