Cherie Barrera

Cherie Barrera is an experienced educator currently serving as an 8th Grade ELA Teacher at Diboll Independent School District since August 2020. Prior to this role, Barrera taught 4th Grade ELA/Social Studies at the same institution and served as an 8th Grade English/Language Arts Teacher at Kermit ISD from August 2019 to August 2020. Additionally, Barrera taught 8th Grade Science at Denver City ISD from June 2017 to August 2019 and held leadership positions as State President and State President-Elect at the Texas Classroom Teachers Association during the same period. From August 2005 to June 2017, Barrera worked at Midland ISD as an 8th Grade Reading Teacher/Yearbook Advisor and as a 7th/8th Grade Science Teacher/Yearbook Advisor. Barrera also taught 5th Grade Science at Henderson Elementary and Bowie Fine Arts Academy Magnet School, providing support in developing science lesson plans for K-6 teachers. Early in the career, Barrera served as Front of House Manager at Wagner Noel Performing Arts Center. Cherie Barrera earned a Bachelor of Science in Education from Angelo State University between 2002 and 2005.
