Nicholas Sherwood, Ph.D. has a long and varied work experience. Starting in 2000 as a Research Assistant at the University of Minnesota, they have since held roles such as Principal Researcher at Atkins (2001) and The Conway Library, Courtauld Institute of Art (2001), Research Assistant at Worcester Polytechnic Institute/Raytheon (2003), Research Assistant at Cornell University (2006), Senior Scientist at Tornado Spectral Systems (2011), Senior Scientist at Orthogonal, Inc. (2016), Team Lead R&D at PANAXIUM (2018), Lead Display and Photonics Engineer at Kura Technologies (2019), and Director of Product Engineering and Director of Application Engineering at DigiLens Inc. (2019). In their roles, they have been involved in product design and system development for AR wearables platforms, development and evaluation of waveguide display technologies for customer applications, cross-team management and direction for various products and company projects, investigation of new and cutting edge display technologies from potential vendors, definition of technical and manufacturing limits available as constraints to the design, OLED fabrication processes, reorganization and prioritization of engineering efforts, OLED device testing systems, research and design of planar lightwave circuits, in-house fabrication efforts, supply chain management, development of an atypical communications system and protocol for a secure satellite networking scheme, implementation of a full Dynamic Bandwidth Resource Allocation system within an IPsec-encrypted testbed, and research and design of a network topology generator for multi-tiered, multi-waveform, QoS-based networks.

Nicholas Sherwood, Ph.D. received their Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and Computer Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute in 2002. Nicholas then went on to receive their Masters of Science in Electrical Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute in 2005. Finally, they obtained their Doctor of Philosophy in Electrical Engineering from Cornell University in 2011.
