Jie Meng has extensive experience in the visual effects industry. They started their career at Method Studios in 2015 as an FX Artist, where they were responsible for simulating, shading, lighting, and rendering visual effects for commercials and feature films using Houdini. They also developed asset tools for the company.
In 2018, Jie Meng joined Ghost VFX as an FX Artist/TD. They continued to work on FX simulation, shading, lighting, and rendering, but this time for TV shows and feature films with fast turnaround schedules. They also created digital asset tools and performed procedural modeling, animating, and volume sculpting for various FX tasks.
In 2020, Jie Meng joined Xin Studio as a Senior VFX Artist/Consultant. Their responsibilities included FX simulation, shading, lighting, and rendering for short films using Houdini. They also provided visual effects consulting services for a variety of short films and small commercials, as well as handled digital compositing using Fusion.
Currently, Jie Meng works at Digital Domain as a Lead FX Artist. They are responsible for running FX rounds and dailies with the FX team, providing feedback and guidance to artists, and supporting them with technical questions. They also assign and manage FX tasks to ensure on-time delivery of shots. Their expertise includes FX simulation, shading, lighting, and rendering using Houdini, as well as procedural modeling, animating, and volume sculpting. Additionally, they are involved in the development of digital asset tools and R&D for hero FX elements.
Jie Meng completed a Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng) degree in Multiple Digital Media from Fuzhou University between 2007 and 2011. Following that, Jie pursued a Master of Arts (M.A) degree in Visual Effects from the Savannah College of Art and Design from 2012 to 2015.
