Mauricio Villamil

Mauricio Villamil has a diverse work experience in the animation and visual effects industry. Mauricio started their career at MPC as a Senior Matchmove TD in Vancouver, Canada, from May 2011 to December 2011. Mauricio then joined ILM as a Senior Layout Artist for a brief period in 2012. Later that year, they worked at Keystone Pictures, Inc. as a Senior TD and FX Artist, handling various tasks from tracking to lighting. In the same year, they also worked at Industrial Light and Magic as a Layout Artist.

In 2013, Mauricio joined Zoic Studios as a Senior CG Generalist, collaborating with the CG Lead to achieve creative goals and maintain artistic standards. Mauricio also worked with the CG Lead and Comp Lead to establish look development for new environments and characters. Mauricio then joined Digital Domain 3.0 in 2014 as an Environment Artist.

From 2015 onwards, Mauricio worked at Keystone Entertainment as a Senior CG Generalist and Senior Lighter. Mauricio also served as a Senior TD and VFX Artist, focusing on lighting. In 2017, they joined MVFX as a Senior Generslist. In 2021, they transitioned to Animal Logic as a Lighting Artist, and in 2022, they joined Bardel Entertainment as a Senior Lighting Artist.

Mauricio Villamil holds a diverse educational background in the fields of computer graphics, digital effects, and painting. From 2005 to 2006, they pursued a Master of Arts (M.A.) degree in Digital Effects at NCCA, Bournemouth University. Prior to that, from 2002 to 2005, they completed a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) degree in Computer Visualization and Animation at NCCA, Bournemouth University, with a focus on computer graphics. Furthermore, from 1986 to 1992, Mauricio Villamil attended Universidad Nacional de Colombia, where they obtained a degree as a "Maestro en Bellas artes - Pintura-" (Master of Fine Arts - Painting).
