Romain Vial has a diverse work experience, starting with their current role as the Head of Machine Learning at DiliTrust. In this position, they lead a team of data scientists, engineers, analysts, and research engineers, focusing on developing cutting-edge machine learning algorithms integrated into the company's product. Romain also collaborates with the Product team and Tech Leads to define long-term strategies and promotes ML Ops initiatives.
Prior to this role, Romain held the position of Head of Machine Learning at Hyperlex starting in April 2022 and ending in January 2023. Before that, they served as the Lead Data Scientist from September 2019 to April 2022, where they worked on developing a natural language processing (NLP) pipeline to automate the analysis of legal documents for a contract management platform. Romain also managed various technical projects related to NLP tasks.
Romain's earlier experience includes an internship as a Research Assistant (NLP & Deep Learning) at NEC Laboratories Europe from February 2017 to August 2017, where they developed a financial data analysis system and designed a sentiment analysis model. Romain also worked as a Research Assistant (Computer Vision & Deep Learning) at the Institute for Infocomm Research from July 2016 to January 2017.
In addition, Romain has experience as an Electronic Team Leader for a mechatronics project at MINES ParisTech - Ecole des mines de Paris from September 2015 to June 2016. Romain supervised a team of students, scheduled tasks, and coded electronic cards and controls for motors. Prior to that, they also gained practical experience as a Warehouseman during a blue-collar internship at Groupe Ponticelli Frères in February 2015.
Romain VIAL completed their Master 2 (M2) in Mathematics, Vision, Learning (MVA) from École Normale Supérieure Paris-Saclay in 2017-2018. Prior to that, they pursued a M.Sc in Executive Engineering with a focus on Geostatistics and Applied Probabilities at Mines Paris from 2014-2018. Their education journey began in 2012-2014 at CPGE Aux Lazaristes, where they studied Mathematics and Physics.
