The Financial Controller role

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Financial Controller to drive effective financial management within the organisation. As the Financial Controller, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing financial processes, reporting, budgeting, and ensuring compliance to support the company's growth and financial objectives.

Key responsibilities for the Financial Controller

  • Oversee and manage all aspects of financial operations, including month end reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and analysis to provide timely and accurate financial information.
  • Develop and maintain financial policies, procedures, and internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations.
  • Prepare and present financial statements, management reports, and analysis to senior management and a variety of stakeholders to support strategic decision-making.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with various departments to develop annual budgets, track financial performance against budget, and provide insights and recommendations for improvement.
  • Manage cash flow and working capital to optimise financial resources and liquidity while minimising risks.
  • Oversee external audits, tax compliance, and regulatory reporting, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Evaluate and implement financial systems and tools to streamline processes and enhance efficiency in financial reporting and analysis.
  • Work closely with heads of departments to ensure time recording is being maintained and utilisation reporting is being carried out on a timely basis.
  • Providing guidance, training, and mentorship to the finance team to ensure a high level of performance and adherence to best practices.
  • Manage show reporting and consolidated reporting of shows.
  • Assist with accounting software change / systems implementation experience (Netsuite).

   

Essential requirements for the Financial Controller

  • Proven experience (8+ years) in finance and accounting roles, with at least 3 years in a managerial or leadership position.

  • Fully qualified accountant (CIMA / ACCA / ACA).

  • Strong understanding of financial principles, accounting standards, and financial reporting requirements.

  • Consolidation experience into a US based parent company.

  • Proficiency in financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting.

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and team management skills.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities.

  • Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and compliance.

Desirable criteria for the Financial Controller

  • Experience in the technology, entertainment, or creative industry.
  • US GAAP / FRS 102 conversion experience.
  • Willing to commute to our locations in either Wimbledon or Hayes once a week.
