Tom O'Flynn

Tom O'Flynn has a diverse and extensive work experience. Tom is currently serving as a Member of the Board of Directors at TransAlta Corporation since April 2021. In addition, they are a Senior Advisor at Energy Impact Partners, starting from February 2023.

Previously, Tom held the position of Lead Operating Director at Dimension Renewable Energy since June 2021. Tom also worked as an Adjunct Professor at Northwestern University ISEN (Institute for Sustainability and Energy) starting in November 2019.

Before that, Tom served as the Chief Financial Officer at Powin Energy from December 2021 to December 2022. Tom also held the role of Venture Partner, President/CFO - EIP Acquisition Corp at Energy Impact Partners from February 2021 to December 2021.

From 2012 to 2018, Tom had a significant role at The AES Corporation, where they were the Chief Investment Officer AES Infrastructure Advisors from January 2019 to October 2020. Tom later became the Chief Financial Officer and was responsible for global finance and M&A teams across six global regions, as well as leading the company through strategic exits, a transition to renewables, improved financial stability, and cost savings.

Earlier in their career, Tom worked as a Senior Advisor at Blackstone Group from June 2010 to August 2012, and as the Chief Financial Officer at PSEG from July 2001 to May 2009. Tom began their career at Morgan Stanley, where they held the position of Managing Director from June 1986 to June 2001.

Tom O'Flynn pursued their education at Northwestern University from 1978 to 1982, where they obtained a Bachelor's degree in Economics. Following that, they attended The University of Chicago Booth School of Business from 1984 to 1986 for their Master of Business Administration (MBA) with a focus on Finance, General.
