Founded in 1853, the Roman Catholic Diocese of Brooklyn serves the boroughs of Brooklyn and Queens, New York. The boroughs’ combined population stands at more than 4.9 million, of which 1.5 million identify themselves as Catholics. Often dubbed the “Diocese of Immigrants,” members come from 167 countries where Mass is regularly offered in two dozen languages.
