Monsignor Fidel_Leon_Cadavid_MarinFidel León Cadavid Marín was born in Bello (Antioquia) on July 3, 1951. He completed his primary studies at the College of the Pontifical Bolivarian University and his secondary studies at the Minor Seminary of the Archdiocese of Medellín. He obtained a licentiate in Philosophy and Theology from the Pontifical Bolivarian University of Medellin and a licentiate in Dogmatic Theology from the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome.
He received priestly ordination on December 5, 1976. In the exercise of his ministry as a priest, he successively held the following positions: Vicar Coadjutor in the parish of Santa Bárbara (then Archdiocese of Medellín), professor in the Major Seminary of Medellín, parish priest of Sierra ( Popayán), professor at the Major Seminary of Cali, parish priest of Santa Bárbara, Rector of the "Santa Cruz" Major Seminary of Caldas, diocesan bursar, parish priest of the Cathedral of Caldas and parish priest of Santa Ana in Fredonia. He was incardinated in the Archdiocese of Medellín , but when the diocese of Caldas was created in 1988, he became part of the clergy of the latter.
On July 25, 2001, His Holiness John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Quibdó. He was ordained Bishop on September 22, 2001. On February 2, 2011 he was appointed Bishop of Sonsón – Rionegro. He took canonical possession of the diocese on March 18 at the Cathedral of Rionegro and the following day at the Cathedral of Sonsón.
