Kaushik Parmar

Co-Founder & VP of Research & Development at Direct-C

Dr. Kaushik Parmar, earned his integrated masters (B.Tech and M.Tech) in aerospace engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT-Bombay) in 2008, and his PhD in mechanical and manufacturing engineering from the University of Calgary in 2015. Dr. Parmar’s masters’ research involved studies in composite materials and development of micro-sensors for miniature aerial vehicles. In 2009, he joined King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. There, he developed a nano-patterned fuel cell electrode to greatly enhance overall performance. During his Doctoral research, he designed nanostructures to improve the performance of solar cells and developed polymer nanocomposite-based thin film sensors capable of sensing strain, force, temperature, and various chemicals. This work includes the patent pending sensor technology capable of hydrocarbon detection being developed by DIRECT-C. Dr. Parmar has published numerous patents, journal articles and conference publications on the development of nanostructures of material and thin film sensors.
