John Firth ACA CTA has extensive experience in tax management, currently serving as the Head of Tax at Direct Line Group since June 2000. In this role, John oversees the UK taxation obligations for all DLG entities, managing a total tax liability of £1.1 billion and collaborating with international subsidiaries to address local taxation issues. John also focuses on enhancing the taxation effectiveness across various tax types and corporate structures, working closely with specialist units to optimize the tax position of DLG. Prior to this, John developed expertise in direct tax advisory and compliance at KPMG UK and Robson Rhodes, and began a career in auditing at Wheawill & Sudworth. Education includes a Foundation Course in Accountancy from the University of Huddersfield.
