Thomas Karaffa

Thomas Karaffa has a diverse work experience spanning from 2016 to the present. Thomas began their career as an Emergency Medical Technician at American Medical Response from September 2016 to October 2018. Following this, they worked as a Data Analyst at TrendSource, Inc. from November 2018 to July 2020, where they constructed accurate reports using Python and pandas and automated data processes. From December 2020 to December 2022, Thomas worked as a Data Engineer at Deep Labs. In this role, they led data architecture and modeling initiatives, managed downstream transformations, and created ELT pipelines using Python, SQL, shell scripting, Docker, and Airflow. Most recently, they joined Disco as a Senior Data Engineer in May 2023.

Thomas Karaffa is currently pursuing a Master of Science (MS) degree in Analytics at the Georgia Institute of Technology. Prior to that, they obtained a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Psychology and a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Philosophy from UC San Diego. Thomas also studied Mathematics and Computer Science at San Diego Mesa College but did not obtain a degree in that field.
