Gaurav Agrawal

Gaurav Agrawal, Ph.D. has a diverse work experience spanning multiple roles and industries. Gaurav started their career at the Indian Institute of Science, where they completed their Ph.D. focusing on the activation mechanism of FSHR, a G-protein coupled receptor. During their time there, they conducted extensive characterization of FSHR and its mutants, identified a novel intramolecular inverse agonistic 'switch' in FSHR, and generated specific antibodies towards the receptor.

After completing their Ph.D., Gaurav joined the University of California, San Diego as a Post Doctoral Fellow and later became an Assistant Project Scientist. In these roles, they specialized in elucidating the role of endoplasmic reticulum (ER) in peroxisome biogenesis. Gaurav developed novel cell-based and in vitro assays that led to the discovery of vesicular carriers emerging from the ER, identified a novel intracellular protein sorting pathway for peroxisome membrane proteins, and uncovered a mechanism for sorting of these proteins within the ER.

In 2016, Gaurav transitioned to Eurofins DiscoverX, where they took on the role of Technical Support Scientist and later became a Senior Technical Support Scientist. In these positions, they provided technical support and expertise for the company's products and worked closely with customers to address their needs and inquiries.

Gaurav's career at Eurofins DiscoverX continued to evolve, and they eventually held the role of Global Scientific Development Manager. In this capacity, they served as a scientific liaison, strengthening partnerships with biotech and pharma companies through the integration of DiscoverX's product portfolio. Gaurav also worked with contract development and manufacturing organizations (CDMOs/CROs) on Bioassay programs for quality control (QC) lot release of biologics and biosimilars.

Currently, Gaurav is an Associate Director, Strategic Market Development at Eurofins DiscoverX. In this global role, they are responsible for strengthening partnerships and steering collaborations with biotech and pharma companies. Leading the market development team, Gaurav strategically drives the growth of DiscoverX's cell-based assay products.

Throughout their career, Gaurav Agrawal, Ph.D. has demonstrated a strong scientific background, expertise in cell-based assays, and a track record of building partnerships and driving growth in the biotech and pharma industries.

Gaurav Agrawal, Ph.D. obtained their Ph.D. in Protein Biochemistry & Cell Biology from the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) in the years 2003 to 2008. Following this, they pursued further education at UC San Diego as a Post Doctoral Fellow in the field of Cell and Molecular Biology from 2009 to 2014.
