Maurice DeVries has a diverse work experience. Maurice started their career with Chevron in 2008 as Manager of Strategy, Business Planning & Pricing for the Africa, Europe, Pakistan region. In this role, they focused on developing strategies and pricing models for the company. After that, they took on the role of Manager Retail, Commercial & Industrial Marketing for Chevron Egypt, where they successfully turned around the business unit's profitability. In 2010, DeVries joined Distell as the Head of Regulatory & Corporate for Africa. Maurice later became the Group General Manager of New Business Development, responsible for executing Distell's global growth strategy and managing mergers and acquisitions. Among their achievements in this role, they introduced a project governance process and successfully negotiated Distell's first joint venture partnership in China.

Maurice DeVries obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Cape Town in 1988. Maurice then pursued a Master of Science degree in Chemical Engineering at The Ohio State University from 1991 to 1993. Following that, Maurice attended the University of Michigan - Stephen M. Ross School of Business from 1993 to 1995, where they obtained an MBA with concentrations in Corporate Strategy, Corporate Finance, and Manufacturing.
