Kai Wern Choong

Kai Wern Choong has a range of work experience in software development. They started as a Freelance Software Developer in 2017, working on projects involving Ruby on Rails, Vue.js, and Jekyll. They then pursued a Web Developer Internship at FixSensei-IPhone Repair Malaysia, where they contributed to the development of a booking application using Ruby on Rails and React.

In 2018, Kai Wern continued freelancing and developed static websites using Jekyll and Netlify CMS. They also worked as a Software Developer at Mindworks Interactive, primarily using Ruby on Rails, GatsbyJS, and Netlify CMS.

From 2019 to 2022, Kai Wern joined Naluri - Employee Health & Wellness, initially as a Software Engineer and then as a Senior Software Engineer. They worked on backend services in Elixir and Typescript, and occasionally on React Native for mobile applications. They contributed to various product features, including identity, payments, and internal tools. Additionally, they took on responsibilities such as debugging production issues, mentoring engineers, and conducting knowledge-sharing sessions.

In 2022, Kai Wern became a Participant at Recurse Center, where they focused on self-learning Rust and explored topics such as database systems, network programming, and replication protocols. They collaborated with other participants on pair programming projects and gave presentations on their work.

Currently, Kai Wern works at Ditto as a Software Engineer.

Kai Wern Choong completed a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from Sunway University from 2015 to 2018.
