Steve Beardsmore has over 40 years of work experience in the civil engineering field. Steve has held various positions, starting as a Graduate Engineer at Sir Owen Williams and Partners in 1978. Steve then progressed to become a Project Engineer and gained experience in bridge design projects in the UK and as a site engineer for the M54 Motorway.

In 1986, Steve joined Sir William Halcrow and Partners as a Project Engineer before moving to the Ministry of Works, Government of Malawi in 1987 where they served as a Principal Civil Engineer specializing in bridges.

Steve returned to the UK in 1990, working as a Senior Civil Engineer at T.P.O'Sullivan and Partners Limited until 1991. Steve then joined Frank Graham Consulting Engineers as a Principal Engineer and continued in that role until 1995.

Since 2000, Steve has been serving as a Principal Engineer and Engineering Manager at DLT Engineering Ltd. In this role, they are responsible for the conceptual and detailed design of specialist equipment for heavy lifting and moving projects in the construction and petrochemical industries, as well as permanent and temporary works for civil engineering projects.

Steve Beardsmore completed their undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering (BSc (Hons)) from the University of Leeds from 1974 to 1977. Prior to that, they attended Kettering Technical College, and from 1967 to 1972 they attended Wollaston School. There is no further information regarding their education history.
