Michael D. Layton

Michael D. Layton serves as the W.K. Kellogg Community Philanthropy Chair at the Dorothy A. Johnson Center for Philanthropy since September 2020, bringing extensive experience in philanthropy through various roles as professor, researcher, director, and consultant at prominent institutions. Previously, Layton held positions such as Senior Consultant at CFLeads and Geneva Global, and Independent Consultant & Researcher at MDLayton Consulting, focusing on enhancing civil society and philanthropy, particularly in Latin America and the United States. Notable roles include Independent Researcher at the MacArthur Foundation, Senior Research Fellow at ASU Lodestar Center, and Senior Program Specialist at the Inter-American Foundation. Layton's academic background includes a PhD and MA in Political Science from Duke University and a BA in Philosophy from Haverford College.
