Alexander Kanaris

Alexander Kanaris has a diverse work experience in technology and engineering roles. Alexander currently works as a Principal Engineer at Double A Labs since February 2023. Previously, from 2019 to 2023, they were a Senior Applied Scientist / Problem Solver at Amazon Lab126, focusing on new technology initiatives and demonstrations for Amazon Devices.

Before that, Alexander worked at Apple for almost a decade from 2009 to 2018 as a Senior Engineer, where they developed algorithms for the Apple Watch, particularly in heart rate monitoring. Alexander played a key role in implementing and optimizing heart rate monitoring on three product generations.

Prior to their role at Apple, they worked at SanDisk as a Staff Engineer from 2007 to 2009. Alexander'sresponsibilities included developing embedded firmware for the "Sansa" brand of media player products. Alexander also performed system and codec performance analysis and optimization, and integrated various codecs.

From 2001 to 2007, Alexander worked at InterVideo as a Member of Technical Staff. Alexander was involved in the development of Mpeg-4/DivX players for Windows-CE PDAs and cellular phones, including codec and systems optimization. Alexander also contributed to the design of a proprietary UDP packet loss detection and retransmission protocol.

At the start of their career, Alexander worked at Southern California Edison as a Research Engineer from 1998 to 2001. Alexander focused on electric vehicle infrastructure research and implemented charger modifications to enable Time-Of-Use schedule usage for customers with EVs.

Throughout their career, Alexander has demonstrated expertise in algorithm development, firmware engineering, system optimization, and new technology initiatives.

Alexander Kanaris has a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering - Systems from the University of Southern California. Alexander also holds a M.S. in Electrical Engineering from Caltech and a Diploma in Electrical Engineering from the University of Thessaloniki, Greece.
