Jacob O'Mara

Jacob O'Mara has a diverse work experience spanning over two decades. Jacob is currently working at DoubleLine Group LP as the Director of Information Security starting in April 2020. Prior to that, they worked at PIMCO from September 2015 to April 2020, holding the position of VP and Deputy Global Information Security Officer. In this role, they were responsible for establishing the strategic direction and overseeing the day-to-day execution of operational information security initiatives. Jacob also managed the Information Security engineering, architecture, and operations team.

Before joining PIMCO, Jacob worked at Southern California Edison (SCE) as a Senior Security Engineer from April 2013 to September 2015. During their time there, they provided policy, architecture, and general technical security consulting to various stakeholders. Jacob was also a key contributor towards the development of automated detection and response software/scripts for cyber threats and played a significant role in several incident response program initiatives.

Prior to SCE, Jacob worked at BT as an Information Security and Risk Management Consultant from January 2012 to April 2013. In this role, they represented Corporate Information Security on multiple projects, ensuring the successful and secure implementation of technology solutions. Jacob also performed internal gap assessments and developed remediation plans to align with security standards.

From 2007 to 2012, Jacob worked at Booz Allen Hamilton as an Information Security Engineer. Their responsibilities included designing and developing a comprehensive methodology for evaluating IA risk/impact of U.S. Navy Enterprise applications.

Jacob started their career at Qualcomm as an IT Security Engineer in April 2003. During their tenure, they led a project to standardize subnets within the company's global DNS infrastructure. Jacob also conducted threat analysis, configured network devices, and troubleshooted various network issues.

Before entering the field of information security, Jacob worked at Air Fiber as a Product Support specialist and at Rite Aid as a Pharmacy Technician.

Overall, Jacob O'Mara has held various positions in information security, demonstrating expertise in strategic direction, operational execution, consulting, incident response, policy development, and risk management.

Jacob O'Mara began their education at Western Connecticut State University in 1995, where they studied meteorology. Jacob attended the university for one year, completing their studies in 1996. In 2007, O'Mara enrolled at Grossmont College, where they pursued a degree in criminal justice. Jacob studied at Grossmont for one year before moving on to Champlain College in 2009.

At Champlain College, O'Mara specialized in computer forensics and attended the institution for two years, completing their studies in 2011. In 2014, they furthered their education by attending Dale Carnegie, where they obtained a management certificate. O'Mara completed their studies at Dale Carnegie in 2017.

In addition to their formal education, O'Mara obtained the Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) certification from ISC2 in March 2006.
