Cheryl Handley has extensive work experience in the education field. Cheryl started their career in 1993 as a Middle Grades Teacher at the Paulding County School District. From 1996 to 2001, they worked as an Educator at the Douglas County School System. Cheryl then joined Chapel Hill High School in 2007 as the Head Competition Cheerleading Coach. Cheryl returned to the Douglas County School System in 2003, where they held various positions such as Educational Evaluator, Special Education Supervisor - High School, and currently serves as the Executive Director of Special Education. Their experience spans over several years and showcases their commitment to the education field.

Cheryl Handley completed their Bachelor's degree in Middle Grades Math & Social Studies from Kennesaw State University from 1988 to 1993. Cheryl then pursued their Master of Arts (M.A.) in Special Education and Teaching at the University of West Georgia from 1996 to 1998. In 2009, they furthered their education by obtaining a Specialist Degree in Special Education and Teaching from Jacksonville State University, which they completed in 2011. Most recently, from 2015 to 2017, Cheryl attended the University of West Georgia again to complete a degree in Educational Leadership.
