Matthew S. has a diverse work experience in the education field. Matthew is currently working as the Director of Special Education at Champlain Valley Educational Services since February 2020. Prior to this, they served as an Adjunct Professor at State University of New York College at Plattsburgh starting from January 2019. From 2013 to 2020, Matthew worked as a Principal at Peru Central School District, responsible for overseeing the successful operation of grades K - 6. Matthew S. has a diverse education history starting with their enrollment at Siena College from 1996 to 1998, where they majored in Math and Finance before transferring. Matthew then attended the State University of New York at Plattsburgh from 1999 to 2001, earning a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Special Education and Elementary Education with a Minor in Mathematics. Following this, Matthew pursued a Master of Science in Education (M.Ed.) degree in Curriculum and Instruction from 2002 to 2005 at the same institution. Matthew continued their education at the State University of New York at Plattsburgh from 2006 to 2008, obtaining a Certificate of Advanced Study in Educational Leadership.

In addition to their academic qualifications, Matthew has obtained several certifications. Matthew was awarded a Permanent Special Education Teacher Certificate by the NYS Education Department in September 2001. In February 2002, they earned a Provisional Certificate for Pre Kindergarten, Kindergarten, and Grades 1-6. Later on, in September 2010, Matthew achieved the status of Permanent School Administrator and Supervisor as well as Professional School District Leader, both certified by the NYS Education Department.
