Triet Nguyen

Triet Nguyen brings to DPC Data four decades of experience in municipal research, trading, portfolio management and financial technology. In his role, Triet taps into his credit expertise to help design and execute innovative data and analytics solutions for all municipal market participants, both on the sell side and buy side.

Before joining DPC Data, Triet was the founder and managing partner of Axios Advisors LLC, an independent municipal research and credit analytics boutique. He is known as a high yield/distressed municipal bond expert and a pioneer in the development of research workflow solutions and credit scoring models for municipals. He has also been an ardent proponent of greater data transparency in the municipal market.

Triet is the author of “Investing In The High Yield Municipal Market”, published in July 2012 by John Wiley/Bloomberg Press.

Prior to Axios, Mr. Nguyen was a Managing Director/ Head of Public Finance for NewOak Capital LLC, a leading credit and risk advisory firm. Before that, he traded tax-exempt high yield and taxable municipal bonds (including Build America Bonds) as a Senior Vice President at B.C. Ziegler. From January 2004 to January 2008, he was a Managing Director of Saybrook Capital, LLC, managing one of the first ever municipal hedge funds dedicated to a credit strategy.

Prior to 2000, he was Vice President/Portfolio Manager of the John Hancock Funds and a Senior Portfolio Manager of the Putnam Funds.

Triet received a B.A. in Economics and an M.B.A. in Finance and Accounting from the University of Chicago.
