Bernd Mertens

Bernd Mertens has extensive work experience in the retail industry. Bernd currently holds the position of Senior Global Director Supply Chain and Planning at Dr. Barbara Sturm since April 2021. Prior to that, they served as the Head of Buying, Sourcing, Planning at HUDORA GmbH from January 2020 to July 2020. Before that, they had a long tenure at C&A, where they held various leadership roles including Unit Leader New Business Developments, Unit Leader for new store concept / category role project management, and Unit Leader for Buying and product management. Bernd also had experience in marketing management and retail management at C&A. Bernd Mertens started their career as a Retail Management Trainee at C&A in October 1987.

Bernd Mertens has a diverse education history. Bernd obtained a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree in Retail Management from TIAS School for Business and Society between the years 1999 and 2001. Prior to that, from 1987 to 1989, they completed a program in Retail Management/Kaufmann im Einzelhandel at the Oldenburg Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Lastly, between the years 1978 and 1986, they attended the Mathematisch Naturwissentschaftliches Gymnasium Mönchengladbach, where they earned their Abitur degree (general qualification for university) with a concentration in Allgemeine Fachhochschulreife.
