Lamar Romero

Chief Executive Dragon at Dragon Spirits Marketing

Lamar Romero is the founder and CEO of Dragon Spirits Marketing and Promotion, a marketing and technology company established on the belief that the brand activation space (also known as the promotional model or experiential marketing space) is in great need of disruption. Dragon Spirits' in-house designed technology, affectionately named the DEN (Dragon Engagement Network), is built to allow clients: direct access to Dragons (brand ambassadors) with the ability to hand-select the right person for the job; greater efficiency in event creation and management; and informative after-event reporting at a cost that is significantly lower than anything else in existence today.

Before devoting his work full time to Dragon Spirits Marketing and Promotion, Lamar served as Vice President of Sales and Strategy for OwnLocal, a Y-combinator company saving newspapers. Prior to that, he was the Chief Funding Officer for Romero Capital and Funding, a firm dedicated to small business funding needs during the financial crisis of 2009-11.

It's a pretty strange journey from technology to finance to booze; a journey Lamar is happy (to try) to explain to anyone who asks. However, this crazy experience is exactly what led Lamar to create the only company in the promotional marketing space that combines brand learning, emotional sales training, and a mostly non-model approach to experiential marketing. Lamar firmly believes that most consumers want to be educated and told a great story rather than just have a pretty face behind the barrel. This is especially important to all the new breweries, wineries, and distilleries that enter the US market by the thousands annually.
