Mehma Kaur Chawla has a diverse work experience in the field of biomedical engineering, immunology, and immuno-oncology. Mehma Kaur is currently working as a Senior Associate Scientist at Dragonfly Therapeutics, Inc. in the Immuno-Oncology (Biology) department since November 2022. Prior to this role, they have worked as a Senior Research Associate and Research Associate III in the same department at Dragonfly Therapeutics from May 2022 to November 2022 and from February 2021 to May 2022 respectively.

Before joining Dragonfly Therapeutics, Mehma worked as a Research Associate for Biocytogen from July 2020 to February 2021. In this role, they performed and interpreted various in vitro/ex vivo assays related to immunology, immuno-oncology, and molecular biology. Mehma Kaur was responsible for conducting cell isolation and collection, cell characterization using staining and FACS, immune cell profiling, and functional assays using primary cells.

Mehma also gained experience through internships and academic roles. Mehma Kaur interned as a Global Regulatory- CMC Biologics Intern at Celgene in June 2019. Mehma Kaur completed their MS in Biomedical Engineering from Rutgers University–New Brunswick, where they also worked as a Course Grader from September 2018 to May 2020. Additionally, they worked as a Research Intern at the New Jersey Institute of Technology in June and July 2017, where they focused on developing and characterizing a novel hydrogel for cholesterol reduction and conducting in vitro and in vivo experiments. Mehma Kaur also presented their work at an international research symposium.

Earlier in their career, Mehma worked as a Teacher at Surya Kiran School from February 2017 to May 2017 and as an Intern at the Rabindranath Tagore International Institute of Cardiac Sciences in June and July 2016.

Mehma Kaur Chawla pursued their Bachelor of Technology degree in Biotechnology from Heritage Institute of Technology from 2014 to 2018. Mehma Kaur further continued their education at Rutgers University–New Brunswick, where they obtained a Master of Science degree in Bioengineering and Biomedical Engineering from 2018 to 2020.
