Senior Curriculum Designer Mathematics at DreamBox Learning

David Wees has a diverse work experience in the field of education. David is currently working as a Senior Curriculum Designer at DreamBox Learning, where they design engaging mathematics lessons and experiences, develops curriculum mappings, and creates student progress representations. Prior to this, they worked as an Independent Consultant at Paperless Math, consulting for schools, school districts, and educational technology companies to enhance mathematics teacher learning and support mathematics learning applications.

From 2013 to 2017, David worked at New Visions for Public Schools as a Mathematics Formative Assessment Specialist. In this role, they played a key role in two federally-funded initiatives, Accessing Algebra through Inquiry and Mathematics and Science Teacher Education Residency, where they worked with school teacher teams and education school faculty to strengthen the pedagogical content knowledge of math teachers.

Before that, David worked as a Learning Specialist in Math & Technology at Stratford Hall, where they trained staff in the use of technology, supported the teaching and learning of mathematics, and researched best practices. David also has experience as a Mathematics Teacher at Stratford Hall.

David has also served as the Chair of Organizing Committee at Edcamp Vancouver and worked as a Programming Consultant at New Visions for Public Schools, where they created a Google Apps script and provided troubleshooting and design advice.

Earlier in their career, David worked as a Mathematics Teacher at Ruamrudee International School, an Author at Pearson Education, and a Mathematics and Science Teacher at Southbank International School. David began their teaching career as a Mathematics Teacher at The School for Legal Studies.

David Wees earned their Bachelor's degree in Mathematics from The University of British Columbia between 1993 and 1998. David later pursued a degree in Education with a focus on Secondary Mathematics and completed it from the same institution from 2001 to 2002. Continuing their educational journey, Wees obtained a Master's degree in Educational Technology from The University of British Columbia between 2008 and 2010.
