Melissa Fast

Melissa Fast has a diverse work experience spanning over several years. Melissa currently works as a Sr. Customer Success Manager at DreamBox Learning, a position they have held since May 2022. Prior to this, they worked as an Educational Consultant at Smoky Hill Education Service Center from March 2020 to June 2022.

From August 2012 to January 2020, Melissa worked at the Kansas State Department of Education as an Educational Consultant. During their tenure, they played a vital role in building state-wide capacity for mathematics education in Kansas, facilitating the revision of Kansas Curricular Standards for Mathematics, and coordinating the development of a multi-year plan for new assessments.

Melissa also has experience as an Online Scorer at NCS Pearson from March 2009 to August 2012, where they scored online state assessments and evaluated items in reading, mathematics, and writing. Prior to that, they worked as an Adjunct Mathematics Instructor at Neosho County Community College, teaching College Algebra classes and actively participating in professional development activities.

Early in their career, Melissa served as a Mathematics Teacher at multiple institutions, including West Middle School, Perry Lecompton High School, and Seaman High School. Melissa also worked as an Assistant Director of Admissions at Washburn University School of Law from 2002 to 2004, where they executed recruiting strategies and managed the admissions budget.

Melissa's earliest professional role was as an Assistant Director of Testing Services at the University of Kansas from 1998 to 2002. In this position, they supervised employees within Testing Services, managed the administration and scoring of psychological tests, and maintained correspondence with national agencies.

Throughout their career, Melissa has consistently demonstrated a passion for mathematics education and has actively sought opportunities to enhance their instructional effectiveness and stay abreast of current developments in the field.

Melissa Fast has a Master of Science (MS) degree in Counseling Psychology, which they obtained from The University of Kansas from 1996 to 1998. Prior to that, they completed their Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Psychology at Bethel College-North Newton from 1991 to 1995. Additionally, Melissa has obtained a certification as a Teacher of Mathematics from the Kansas State Department of Education in January 2020.
