Dirk-Jan ter Horst has worked in various roles since 2005. Dirk-Jan began their career as an Intern at ABN AMRO in 2005. In 2006, they joined AkzoNobel as Head of Marketing Wood, Metal, Waterproofing, Specialties in South & East Asia, Middle East. In this role, they had marketing responsibility for the region South & South East Asia, and the Middle East for Wood & Metal coatings, Waterproofing, Pre-deco and Specialties. Dirk-Jan then moved to the role of Global Premium Segment Manager Vehicle Refinishes, and then Regional Commercial Manager (60 fte) for Vehicle Refinishes brand Wanda targeting the mid-market in South East Asia & Pacific. In 2010, they became a Member Advisory Board International Business Research of Univeristy of Groningen at IBR. In 2019, they co-founded Drive lah, a peer-to-peer car sharing platform that aims to reduce the cost of owning or renting a car.
Dirk-Jan ter Horst completed a 2x Msc in Business Administration from the University of Groningen between 2001 and 2007. This included a focus on Small Business & Entrepreneurship and International Business. In 2005 and 2006, they completed a Masters in International Management from the University of Mannheim. In 2013, they attended a Finance & Accounting program at the National University of Singapore. Dirk-Jan also has a certification from KSA.
