Dr. Zion Gezaw

Dr. Zion Gezaw is an experienced educational leader currently serving as the School Director In Training at DSST Public Schools and the Chief Executive Officer at The McKenzie Institute for Liberating Excellence, LLC. With a robust background in curriculum and instructional leadership, Dr. Gezaw has led numerous equity-centered initiatives impacting over 50,000 students during tenure as an Associate Consultant at Education First Consulting. Previous roles include Assistant Principal of Instruction at STRIVE Prep, where Dr. Gezaw implemented culturally responsive curricula, and a Senior Team Lead at Denver Public Schools, where Dr. Gezaw coached educators in effective teaching practices. Dr. Gezaw holds a Doctor of Education in Curriculum and Instruction and Educational Leadership and Policy Studies, along with several degrees from the University of Denver, emphasizing a commitment to educational equity and excellence.
