Erling Johns Nielsen has a diverse work experience spanning over several years. Erling Johns started their career as a Management Trainee at A.P. Moller - Maersk in 1987. Erling Johns then joined Maersk Drilling as a Management Trainee in Sales & Contracts in 1988. In 1989, they worked as a Management Trainee in Marketing & Business Development for Maersk Line. From 1990 to 1991, Erling worked as a Shipping Assistant for Maersk Switzerland. Erling Johns then joined Maersk Line again in 1991, first as an Assistant in Marketing & Business Development for the Transatlantic Service, and later as a Manager in the same department.

In 1997, Erling joined Mercantile International A/S, a part of A.P. Moller - Maersk, as the Manager of Strategy & Business Development. Here, they successfully prepared the growth strategy for Mercantile and developed a unique supply chain simulation tool called Map*IT®, which demonstrated the customer value of their supply chain solutions.

In 2000, they joined Maersk Logistics International A/S as the General Manager & Principal Consultant of Maersk Logistics Consulting. Erling Johns then worked at Damco International A/S, another company within A.P. Moller - Maersk, from 2002 to 2008, first as the Senior General Manager & Global Head of Supply Chain Development and later as the Director of Global Supply Chain Development.

Since 2013, Erling has been working at DSV - Global Transport and Logistics as the Vice President and Global Head of Supply Chain Optimisation and Green Logistics.

Throughout their career, Erling has achieved significant results such as increasing sales, launching new services, and optimizing supply chains for various industries. Erling Johns has also held leadership positions, been part of key teams and successfully built strong teams of consultants.

Erling Johns Nielsen completed their primary and secondary education at Frørup Centralskole from 1973 to 1983. Erling Johns then attended Nyborg-Kerteminde Handelsskole from 1983 to 1986, earning a degree in Commerce and Economy. In 1988 and 1989, they enrolled at A.P. Møller-Maersk Shipping School, studying Shipping, Commercial & Maritime Law, Language, and Economics. From 1991 to 1996, Erling attended Copenhagen Business School, where they obtained a Diploma in Business Economics with a focus on Business Economics, Macroeconomics, Statistics, Commercial Law, and Marketing. Erling Johns continued their education at The Institute of Logistics and Transport in London from 2000 to 2001, earning an ILT Diploma in Logistics with a specialization in People Management, Resource Management, Logistics Management, Transport Management, and Warehouse Management. Finally, in 2001, Erling completed the Accelerated Development Programme (ADP) at London Business School, which focused on leadership development.
